Daniel Di Martino: This is how socialism works...

Manhattan Institute fellow Daniel Di Martino discusses the rising influence of the Democratic Socialists of America, on 'Sunday Night in America.' on Fox.

Socialism is an economic and political ideology that seeks greater collective or state control over wealth, industry and the means of production, often reducing the role of private ownership in favour of government direction and redistribution. Whenever socialist systems have been implemented on a large scale, they have repeatedly produced economic stagnation, shortages, reduced incentives, political repression or some combination of these problems, with the most extreme examples resulting in enormous human suffering. While individual policies influenced by socialist ideas can exist within successful mixed economies, the historical record provides little evidence that fully socialist economic systems can consistently deliver the prosperity, freedom and efficiency promised by their advocates.
