U.S. Navy ship encounters aggressive Russian aircraft in Baltic Sea
U.S. Navy ship encounters aggressive Russian aircraft in Baltic Sea
STUTTGART, GERMANY - A United States Navy Destroyer operating in
international waters in the Baltic Sea experienced several close
interactions by Russian aircraft on April 11 and 12. USS Donald Cook (DDG 75) encountered multiple, aggressive flight maneuvers by Russian aircraft that were performed within close proximity of the ship.
On April 11, Donald Cook was conducting deck landing drills with an Allied military helicopter when two Russian SU-24 jets made numerous, close-range and low altitude passes at approximately 3 p.m. local. One of the passes, which occurred while the Allied helicopter was refueling on the deck of Donald Cook, was deemed unsafe by the ship's commanding officer. As a safety precaution, flight operations were suspended until the SU-24s departed the area.
On April 12, while Donald Cook was operating in international waters in the Baltic Sea, a Russian KA-27 Helix helicopter conducted circles at low altitude around the ship, seven in total, at approximately 5 p.m. local. The helicopter passes were also deemed unsafe and unprofessional by the ship's commanding officer. About 40 minutes following the interaction with the Russian helicopter, two Russian SU-24 jets made numerous close-range and low altitude passes, 11 in total. The Russian aircraft flew in a simulated attack profile and failed to respond to repeated safety advisories in both English and Russian. USS Donald Cook's commanding officer deemed several of these maneuvers as unsafe and unprofessional.
We have deep concerns about the unsafe and unprofessional Russian flight maneuvers. These actions have the potential to unnecessarily escalate tensions between countries, and could result in a miscalculation or accident that could cause serious injury or death.
U.S. officials are using existing diplomatic channels to address the
interactions, while the incidents are also being reviewed through U.S. Navy channels.

Impatient Pups Left Alone In Car Lay On The Horn For Their Owners’ Return
Over the weekend, Melissa Tonkin from Altoona, Pennsylvania left a pizza shop and spotted a group of impatient dogs laying the horn for their owner. After a long beep, the Airedale Terrier in the driver’s seat let out one more to let their owner inside know they were ready to hit the road. The dogs’ owner, who was not gone very long, returned to the car and said, they “love going for rides, but apparently they don’t like waiting.”

The official world record high dive of 172ft (52.4m), set back in 1983
There is considerable debate surrounding record claims for the highest dive, which largely revolves around criteria for what constitutes a valid dive.
ABC's Wide World of Sports produced world record high dives for its Emmy award winning sports anthology show for more than a decade. They required contestants to dive or execute at least one somersault and exit the water without the assistance of others.
In 1983 Wide World of Sports produced its last World Record High Dive at Sea World in San Diego. Five divers (Rick Charls, Rick Winters, Dana Kunze, Bruce Boccie and Mike Foley) successfully executed dives from 172 ft. In 1985 Randy Dickison dove from 172 ft at Ocean Park in Hong Kong but sustained a broken femur and could not exit the water on his own. In 1987 Olivier Fave attempted a double back somersault from 177ft but broke his back upon impact and had to be rescued. Laso Schaller's 2015 jump from a 193 ft cliff in Switzerland is not considered a dive.

Why Tipping Is A Scam
"Some aspects of tipping, I don't get it at all. I mean I don't eat at restaurants often anyways, knowing someone who doesn't give a fuck about me is making my food, and trying to do it for as cheap as possible so he can maximise his profits is troubling enough, but the expectation for me to tip makes me wanna go even less.
I know, I sound like a barrel of laughs right? The kind of person you want to get to know, no? Lol fuck you, but I'm just saying. "

The Tough-Skinned Tamandua Is Hard as Nails
Meet Tammy and Lucho. They're tamanduas, the smaller cousins of the giant anteater. When a predator gets too close, the tamandua will release a stinky spray four times stronger than a skunk's. Its coarse, thick fur also keeps ants at bay. But hunting and the exotic pet trade are a constant threat. This is the tamandua.
