Amala Ekpunobi - Cornell 7 This Is Why We Wait For More Information

New text messages from the “Cornell 7” accuser have been revealed and oh boy, is this case changing quickly. Let’s talk about it.

The “Cornell Seven” case concerns a 2024 incident at Cornell University in which a 20-year-old student, known as Jane Doe, alleges that she was drugged, incapacitated and sexually assaulted by seven members of the Chi Phi fraternity. She reported the incident to campus police several weeks later and subsequently told investigators she was completely confident she had been raped, while a separate six-page statement she signed described her initial willingness to have sex with two men and included her account of alcohol and drug use.

The Tompkins County District Attorney declined to bring criminal charges at the time, citing insufficient evidence and his interpretation of the original statement, while Cornell conducted its own investigation that resulted in expulsions, suspensions and other disciplinary action. In 2026, Doe filed a civil lawsuit against the seven men, Cornell and others, bringing the case back into the national spotlight. Newly released investigative records and messages have raised questions about what happened and how the original investigation was handled, but the allegations have not been established in a criminal trial and none of the seven men has been criminally convicted. The criminal investigation has now been reopened under a special prosecutor.
