Spotting dementia in someone requires a keen understanding of the early signs and symptoms that may manifest in their behavior and cognitive abilities. One common indication is memory loss that disrupts daily life, such as forgetting important dates or events, repeatedly asking for the same information, or relying on memory aids more frequently. Additionally, individuals with dementia may experience challenges in planning or solving problems, completing familiar tasks, or following conversations. Changes in mood or personality, withdrawal from social activities, and difficulties with language or visual perception can also be red flags. While these signs may vary in severity and progression, recognizing them early can prompt timely intervention and support for the individual and their caregivers, ultimately improving their quality of life.
