Olivia Colman reads a hilarious 17th century letter from a wife to her husband

On March 3rd, 1610, Sir John Spencer, the former Lord Mayor of London, passed away, leaving behind an immense fortune. Interestingly, instead of bequeathing it to his daughter, Elizabeth, whom he had frequently mistreated, the inheritance went to her husband, Lord William Compton. The amount was so substantial that Compton was rumored to have temporarily lost his bearings. In 1618, as Compton regained his health, Elizabeth penned a letter outlining various ways in which she intended to allocate some of her late father's wealth.

The reading of this letter took place at Letters Live in 2019 at the Union Chapel, featuring the talented Olivia Colman.
