We already know that you can become famous for having a big butt. Social media stars like Jen Selter and Sommer Ray are proof of that. Rise of celebrities with prominent rear-ends, like Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, and Nicki Minaj offer further evidence of this. But can you also become famous on Instagram for PRETENDING to have a big butt? In Episode 1 of Nerd City's Try Hards, we put our theories to the test. After decades where long legs and flat stomachs held the public's gaze, is this now the age of the booty, where nothing else could matter more?

Plywood is a simple material made by glueing together thin sheets of wood, known as veneers or plies. These basic elements have remained broadly the same throughout its history. The most significant breakthrough in its production came in the early 1800s with the development of steam-powered machines that could cut veneers cheaply. The most influential of these was the rotary veneer cutter.
The cutter rotates a log against a wide, horizontal blade, causing it to ‘peel’ into a continuous sheet of wood. This enables the creation of longer, wider sheets of veneer than previously possible and with little waste. Using these machines meant that plywood could be manufactured quickly and inexpensively on a large scale.
This film shows the stages in manufacturing plywood boards in the mid-20th century and today. The process remains essentially unchanged, although today many of the machines are much faster and computer controlled.
Produced as part of the V&A exhibition Plywood: Material of the Modern World (15 July – 12 November 2017).

Kinji the Cheetah is something special. He honestly tries making friends with everyone... especially the animals that lives within his reach. I've mentioned before he is very clever and extremely calm and non aggressive in nature. Chloe the dog bites him on the lips sometimes when he bothers her to much and he accepts the consequences and never retaliates. He is a fun loving cheetah who loves to play and loves MEERKATS!
Here he is at 8 months and 2 years old trying to get the meerkats to scratch him. He ends up purring to the delight of getting a grooming from these small creatures. He has no idea they want to kill him! Meerkats are territorial and do not like predators.
Staff label Kinji as "The cheetah that doesn't purr" and it is rare for sure. I've only heard him purr when eating sometimes, playing with a toy sometimes, and encountering his meerkat friends. I was very happy to hear and record his purr. A cheetah purr is quickly becoming my favorite sound in the world... so relaxing, calming, and something that penetrates the psyche down to the rudimentary soul for me. A purrs is designed to calm tensions; letting others around them know a friendly cat is present.

World record for the BUGATTI Chiron: the 1,500 PS super car has accelerated from a standing start to 400 km/h (249 mph) and braked back to a standstill in just 42 seconds (41.96). This is the fastest time ever reached and officially measured for this driving manoeuvre for a production vehicle throughout the world. The Chiron completed the manoeuvre in a distance of only 3.112 kilometres. This underscores the supercar’s unique position in the extreme performance range. The world record was set by Juan Pablo Montoya, winner of the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, two-time winner of the Indy 500 and three-time winner of the 24 hours of Daytona. The 0-400-0 manoeuvre is the first step on the way to a new world speed record for production vehicles which Bugatti intends to set in 2018 and a further highlight in the success story of the Chiron.
Please note: The video shows the actual 0-400-0 run in real time, so it is 41.96 seconds long.

ROSHARON, Texas - Of the thousands of homes evacuated and damaged by flooding in Brazoria County, one family’s home is high and dry on West FM 1462 in Rosharon.
Randy Wagner decided to take a chance on something called an Aqua Dam, a product he discovered online.
Rosharon, and many parts of Brazoria County were filled with military vehicles and airboats to facilitate mandatory evacuations when the Brazos River began to overflow.
“Your family being relocated and you know it’s heartbreaking to know that that could happen,” said Wagner.
Wagner was determined to find a way to save his home, after Brazos River Authority warned residents of the approaching floods that hadn’t been seen in decades.
“To not know what that level was going to stop at, I needed to prepare for something that no one has seen,” said Wagner.

7 week old fostered kittens waiting on their dinner being prepared. They had been ill with cat flu and were just starting to get their appetite back. Because of their condition I had to chop their food finely and then add water and their medication to it. Once they were old enough and healthy enough the kittens were eventually re-homed in pairs to two loving families. They were never purposely starved for entertainment - Cats can be very impatient and demanding!
